

Marie Ann Hinshaw was born at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, IN. on 04 October 1934 to Clifford and Florence (Craig) Hinshaw. She was married first to Richard Z. Midkiff Sr. 21 May 1954 and then to Donald E. Bandy. 21 August 1971. Marie excelled in her typing and shorthand classes at Beech Grove High School of where she just celebrated being a 70 year graduate.
Marie was a hard worker! From her paper route in 7th grade and went on to work as a key punch operator at several companies before moving on to be a secretary at places like P.R.Mallory’s Indianapolis and I.T.T. Corp in California. She became an office manager at Sun Amp a solar company in Arizona to her last job working at L.S. Ayres in Greenwood.
Marie also loved her sports! From Pro basketball Indiana Pacers to her Phoenix Suns! And do NOT call her on a Sunday afternoon if her COLTS were playing! And then there is the pro golf she enjoyed watching. Marie also could win at BINGO and could lay down a game of solitaire like no other! Marie was a league bowler from the 1960’s until she broke her wrist in the early 1990’s. Marie belonged to many organizations that had her running the show! From Sunday school classes to women’s groups. Marie loved being involved and up until her death was the President of the Assisted living community where she lived! Want something done? You asked Marie! Marie was always an active member in her churches, singing in the choirs and being a part of the social groups. She belonged to Barth Place UMC, Beech Grove UMC, Christ United UMC, Olive Branch Christian Church and to 1st Baptist Church Scottsdale AZ. Marie was also a member of The Degree of Honor with her bestie Thelma Hoover.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Florence (Craig) Hinshaw, her 2 ex-husband’s Richard Z. Midkiff Sr. and Donald E. Bandy, her brother George W. Hinshaw, her son Richard Z. “Rick” Midkiff, her son David E. Bandy, her nephew Clifford K. “Ken “Hinshaw, and her granddaughter Heather Bandy.
Marie is survived by her children Kimberly Marie “Kim” (Scott) Shepherd, Kevin S. (Terri) Bandy, Her daughter in law Elizabeth “Beth” Midkiff, her sister Myra L (Louie) Lehmann, her niece’s Kassie (Patrik) Sundin and Paula Ann Hinshaw and 10 grandchildren, 2 great nieces and at least 13 GREAT grandchildren!
There will be a celebration of her life with songs, stories, butterflies and an Ice Cream Sunday bar on 20 October 2024 at Little and Son’s Funeral home from 5p.m.-7p.m. (Hopefully the Colts will have soundly beat the Dolphins at the 1 O’clock game) Burial will follow on Monday 10 a.m. at Forrest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood, IN.
Memorials may be given to Samuel Bryan NSDAR (sent to 1410 Park Meadow Way, BG, IN 46107 in honor of Marie Hinshaw, D.A.R. actively supports Veterans, Education and Historic Preservation. And Flowers are always welcome.
The family also gives a HUGE amount of gratitude and appreciation to the Nurse Denise Maxwell and CNA Nikki Blount – Ladies, Hinshaw has gone on to Glory! And to ALL the care staff at Beech Grove Meadows Assisted Living facility. Without whom my mom, Marie couldn’t have lived out the end of her life on her own terms! And, to the Brighton Hospice Care staff, especially Rocky and Nurse Valerie.
