Matthew Joseph Withem

Matt was the son of Mary M. Withem and the late James M. Withem. He was born April 9, 1958, at St. Francis Hospital, Beech Grove, IN. He graduated from Nativity Catholic School and Roncalli High School, Class of 1976.

His employment years included Tuchman Cleaners and Nativity, along with other Catholic grade schools.

Matthew coached CYO Nativity boys’ basketball teams and Nativity girls’ high school softball. He was the recipient of the Monsignor Busald Award in 1998.

Matt enjoyed day trips to Southern Indiana where he took beautiful pictures of Catholic churches in surrounding towns. He would enlarge the pictures and hang them proudly in his home.

Matthew was a loving brother to James P. “Jimmy” Withem (deceased), Joan Jacobs (Doug) and Monica Davis (Mike) as well as five nephews: Nicholas (Jessica), Jeff, Chris, (Erin), Jack, and Eric (Brooke). He also had 8 great nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 4th, 9am – 11am, Nativity Catholic Church, 7225 Southeastern Avenue, Indianapolis. A Funeral Mass will immediately follow at 11am, Father Eric Augustine presiding.
