

Nancy Lavelle, age 91, passed away peacefully on January 5. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Flora Lavelle. Also preceding her in death were her brothers Edward, Nicholas, and Brother John Lavelle, C.S.C., and sisters Lucy Lavelle and Florence Zimmer, and nephew-in-law Frank Malley.
Nancy grew up in the Indianapolis neighborhood of Irvington and attended Our Lady of Lourdes School. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy and attended Marian College. She retired from Naval Avionics in 1974 after 32 years of service.
Before moving to St. Paul Hermitage in 2000, she was a member of Little Flower Church where she was active in the Martha and Mary Group and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. She served as a Eucharistic minister for over 30 years at Little Flower Church, Community Hospital East and nearby nursing homes, as well as St. Paul Hermitage.
Nancy is survived by her nieces Luann Hellwig (Robert), Elaine Malley, Sara O’Brien (Michael), Jane Ahnell (Paul) and Rebecca Mauser (Eric); 13 grand nieces and nephews and 17 great-grand nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m., January 14 at St. Paul Hermitage. Visitation with the family will be from noon to 1 p.m. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery following the service.
