Richard "Dickie Bird" Allen Reeves

Richard was born May 18th, 1942 to William Homer and Mary Pearl (Nagel) Reeves in Indianapolis, IN and was a lifelong Indianapolis resident. He retired from Amtrak in Beech Grove in 2003 after 31 years of service. He will be forever missed and never forgotten by his wife of 25 years, Edna Lenora Reeves, His four children; Teresa (Tom) Izer, Joanne (Steve) Carr, Richard Allen Reeves Jr., and Curtis Reeves, Step-children; Bradley (Christy) McClain and Christina (Mark) Percy. Sisters, Delores P. Shay, Dorothy L. Mack, Judith K. See, Janice E. (Joe) Patterson, and brother Paul Allen Reeves. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Ruth E. Phipps. Richard was a loving grandfather to 16 grandchildren and a great grandfather to 13. Richard was a U.S. Army veteran and served his country proudly. He enjoyed may days of fishing, camping, and gardening. He was a great story teller and laughed at his own jokes. There was never a crossword puzzle he could not solve. He was an avid reader and had a great love for astronomy. He volunteered for the United Way where he was a reading buddy to elementary school children. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge, American Legion, and Senior Center all of Beech Grove. There he felt the kinship of many other fellow members and truly loved his many hours solving all the worlds problems! Dickie Bird will be missed by many.... HE'S GONE FISHING!!
