Sylvia, also known as Sib or Macca, was born to Kenneth and Ester Robbins on December 2, 1936. She graduated from Whiteland High School and married Lyle Michael “Mike” McGuire on September 20, 1961. Mike and Sib always filled their home with laughter, love, and card games. You could find Sib in the living room watching the Pacers, at the kitchen table working on a crossword, brokering a peace treaty in a heated euchre game, or in the office making copies of recipes to share. She took pride in her work at Diamond Chain, where she was employed for 28 years in a variety of positions. She enjoyed water aerobics at the YMCA in Southport and attending exercise classes at the Beech Grove Senior Citizen’s Club. Only occasionally would she tell a dirty joke, but often told stories of the shenanigans of her siblings, all of which would bring tears of laughter to those in earshot. Macca is defined by her eternal warmth, kindness, and acceptance of all people, something that continues to inspire and live on in her loved ones.
Sylvia is preceded in death by her husband Mike, parents, Ester and Kenneth, brothers, Gerald Robbins and Kenneth “Charlie” Robbins.
Sylvia is survived by her daughter, Kellie Elaine McPhail, son-in-law, Steve McPhail, older sisters Jean Brown and Faye Buckingham, granddaughters, Grace Ann McPhail, Darbie Elaine Lopez McPhail, grandson in-law Patrick Jordan Lopez and great grandson Sonny Adán Lopez McPhail.
Memorial Service will be held on March 15, 2025, between the hours of 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Little and Sons Beech Grove Chapel, 1301 Main Street.
