Thomas John Turk, age 63, of Beech Grove, Indiana passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021. He was born to the late, John and Joan Turk on March 10, 1958. He was also preceded in death by his best friend and brother, John L. Turk.
Tom left behind his daughter, Katie and husband, Sam Weitz and their two children, Jack and Abby. He is also survived by his son, David.
Some of Tom’s proudest moments were walking his daughter Katie down the aisle, and being affectionately known as “Gramps” to Jack and Abby. Unfortunately due to the pandemic, Abby didn’t get to spend much time with Gramps, but Jack and he had a cute, special bond. From cooking together and very recently, Gramps teaching Jack how to play chess. Their love for each other was evident and real.
More survivors include his sisters, Susie and husband Denny Brancheau, Bonnie Turk, Joanie and husband Greg Bates.
Tom was loved by all of his nieces and nephews and will be missed by all of them. Bonnie Brancheau, Christie Brancheau, John Turk, Danny Turk and Ben Bates.
Another special bond was the one between Tom and Danny, which certainly surpassed an uncle/nephew relationship. Given the endless phone calls, from cooking tutorials to being sports fanatics, Danny will certainly miss him.
Tom attended Nativity grade school and Roncalli High School. Upon his name being announced at his graduation, his buddies gave him a standing ovation, getting in one last jab at his expense.
Prior to his retirement, Tom worked for over 30 years at AT&T. Despite that, he still had a flip phone and did not know how to store any contacts.
Please join us to swap stories at a memorial gathering on August 20, from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m., followed by a casual celebration of life at 6:30. This will take place at Little and Son’s Funeral home 1301 Main Street, Beech Grove Indiana. We encourage you to embrace the "casual" part of this ceremony…if you knew Tom, he was all about jeans and t-shirts. Go Colts!
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.littleandsonsbeechgrove.com for the Turk family.
