It’s with deep sadness and regret we announce the passing of Robert Mayorquin , 48, who passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Tucson, Arizona. Robert fought a courageous and dignified battle against a very rare and complicated condition, Multiple System Atrophy (MSA). His wife Brenda, son Derek and mother-in-law Isela were home with him in his final days.
Robert, most affectionately known as Bobby, was born and raised in South Gate, California to his parents Felipe and Esperanza Mayorquin. There he grew up with his close-knit family of 4 siblings and extended family of cousins and friends. Robert’s family foundation influenced his affectionate outlook to all those he encountered. His smile and laugh were totally infectious.
Robert dedicated his career to being higher education advocate, counseling students on financial aid programs to improve their futures. This is where he met and fell in love with his wife, Brenda Rodriguez Mayorquin. He eventually became an amazing father and role model to his son Derek. They enjoyed frequent road-trips together, many to Arizona and Puerto Peñasco to visit family.
Although Robert’s MSA progressively debilitated his physical state, he never lost his positive outlook, he never complained. He kept his chin up despite it all. Robert’s trusty red truck which never faltered him for 20+ years was a symbol of his ability to keep moving forward no matter how difficult the obstacles were.
Robert is survived by his wife Brenda, his son Derek, mother Esperanza as well as his siblings Felipe, Ricardo, Cesar and Patricia. All those that knew him will miss him deeply. Robert’s handsome smile will be how he is fondly remembered most.
