Aida Maria Fernandez passed away on August 17, 2014, in Houston, Texas at the age of 96. Aida was born in Habana, Cuba on June 28, 1918. She was married to the love of her life, Jesus Maria Fernandez on December 4, 1946. She left Cuba in the 1950s and lived in Miami, Florida and finally settled in Houston, Texas in the 1960s.
Aida completed her education and PhD in Cuba. She taught with Houston Independent School District, teaching elementary students Spanish and Science. She had a passion for animals, fashion and travel. She owned Aida’s Boutique in Houston. During the summers, she traveled all over Europe on the Europass with France and Spain as her favorite destinations.
Aida’s husband passed away in January of 2007, having been married over 60 years. Aida is survived by her sisters Felicitas Pineda and Andrea Camps, her nieces Mitzi Teresita Delgado, Maria Elena Herbst, Maria Georgina Camps, and great niece Mitzi Delgado Rivero and great nephews Charles Herbst, William Herbst, Wesley Herbst and Armando Delgado
