Barbara Patricia Bernard

Barbara Ellender Bernard was born August 12, 1927 and died February 14, 2011. She was the daughter of James Bernard Ellender and Ruth Lavender Ellender of DeQuincy, Louisiana. She has a sister, Ruth Ann Ellender Gray. Visits with relatives from the Sulphur, Lake Charles and Choupique area were great times for the family. Barbara first worked in Port Arthur, Texas and then in New Orleans as a shorthand secretary. She met Robley J. Bernard, Jr., of Arabi, Louisiana and they were married for 59 years. Living in Houston, Texas since 1952, they raised 3 children, Denise Elaine Bernard and Patricia Annette Bernard of Houston, and Dr. Bryan Alan Bernard of Chicago, Illinois. She was very proud of her daughter-in-law Linda and her 3 grandchildren, Rachel Katheryn, Daniel Robert, and Hannah Ruth Bernard. She is survived by her loving husband Robley, her children and grandchildren and her sister. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00pm, Wednesday, February 16, 2011 with a Rosary at 7:00 pm at Earthman Bellaire Chapel. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 6921 Chetwood, Houston. A private burial service will be held at Houston National Cemetery.
