

Bessie Cowart Glos was born January 18, 1926 and left this world on January 2, 2020 at the age of 93 in Sugarland TX. Bessie was born the 6th child of Joseph & Laura Cowart in Oakhurst, TX and was one of 11 children that grew up in the country. She moved to Houston after graduating from Oakhurst High School in 1943. She worked as a waitress, homemaker and trim carpenter alongside her husband for many years. She is preceded in death by her husband Alex Glos.
Bessie lived a full life and was always busy doing something, never slowed down. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, working in the yard, country music, dancing, playing dominos, sewing, quilting, writing, scratchoffs, telling jokes, cooking, watching airplanes, word books and loved her sweets. She never met a stranger and had a big heart for someone in need. Her middle name was GO and though she never had a drivers license that never stopped her from going and that she did every chance she got. She was quite the entrepreneur with her pecan business, selling onions she raised, plant sales, sewing for others and her crafts.
She loved her family and was most proud of her girls that she raised to be strong independent women. She is survived by 3 daughters, Laura Delores Downey and husband John Van Tronk Jr. of The Woodlands TX, Alice Troppy and husband Jerry of Rosharon TX and Liz Talley and husband Gary of Houston, TX.; 1 granddaughter, 6 grandsons, 9 great grandsons, 2 great granddaughters, and 3 great greatgrandchildren (1 boy and 2 girls); Two brothers Calvin Cowart (Cecilia) and Bennie Cowart (Kathy) both from Oakhurst, TX, and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are her grandsons, Troy Taylor, Blake Taylor, John Moore III, Jason Moore, Joshua Talley and Bryan Talley.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 am, Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 4525 Bissonnet, Bellaire, TX 77401. Graveside Service will follow at 1:00 pm, at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038.
