Brenda Faye Holman

Cherished mother, sister, aunt and friend, Brenda Faye Holman entered into eternal peace on Thursday, April 17, 2014. Our rock, our fortress, you met each and every challenge with an unparalleled determination, a matchless wit and your unmistakable smile. We never needed to look elsewhere for inspiration; you were the model of excellence for our family.

On February 16, 1951, Hobert and Edna Holman welcomed their second baby girl, Brenda Faye, into the world. Always an excellent student, Brenda graduated with honors from Worthing High School earning a scholarship to Houston Baptist University. After completing her university studies, she went on to have a successful career in accounting and auditing, including a long tenure with the State of Texas. Forever evolving, Brenda embarked on a major career change in the early 90’s transitioning from accountant to educator. A lifelong commitment to learning and fondness for technology led her to focus on teaching computer courses to elementary students and subsequently to employees throughout the Houston Independent School District.

While she was the consummate professional, there was no role she treasured more than mother to Chon. Brenda’s dedication to her family never wavered; she played an integral role in the lives of her sister, Shirley, nieces Shawnell and Jaleska, and nephew, Christopher. Passionate about traveling and broadening our horizons, she was happily at the helm of family vacations. A love of God permeated her life, and Brenda was a longtime member of Preeminence (Houston) Christian Fellowship, serving as an usher and greeter. She was later appointed Secretary of the Christ Above All TV ministry.

She is survived by her only child, Chon, sister, Shirley, nieces Shawnell and Jaleska and nephew, Christopher, and a host of other relatives and friends.

A viewing is scheduled for 10 am with services to follow at 11 am on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Preeminence (Houston) Christian Fellowship Church, 11122 Hillcroft Avenue.
