Bryan Lynn Goddard, 58, returned to his heavenly home on Wednesday, March 30, 2022. Bryan was a gentle and kind man, always seeking to care for those around him. He was described by many as “the most loving person they have ever known.” He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and he lived and loved his religion with his whole heart. He had a powerful belief in Jesus Christ and recognized that Christlike love can only exist with forgiveness. He served faithfully in many different roles in the church.
Bryan was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Benjamin Orson Goddard and Dolores Bernice Wallace Goddard. In his youth, he served as a missionary in Lima, Peru. He graduated with a degree in finance from the University of Utah and received his MBA from Brigham Young University. Bryan worked as a commercial real estate appraiser for most of his adult life, and was known for his integrity. He enjoyed collaborating with his colleagues, whom he respected and admired, at Appraisal Group, AEGON, and JPMorgan Chase.
On August 22, 1989, Bryan married his sweetheart in the Salt Lake City temple. They were blessed with four daughters. He enjoyed hiking with his family, playing music with his daughters, and going on trips with his beloved wife.
Bryan is survived by his wife, four daughters, two sons-in-law, and five grandchildren, as well as all six of his siblings and many other family members. Despite the suddenness and unexpectedness of Bryan’s death, his family is comforted by the words Bryan wrote many years ago in letters to his daughters:
"I know that when we serve Heavenly Father, we are blessed. That does not mean he will always keep us from hurting or dying, because he won’t. But if we will do our best to serve Him, He will send peace and blessings. Even though Jesus felt for a time that He was alone and forsaken, he was not alone.... [I] think how it will feel some day to approach Jesus, and to feel His love. What a reunion! To leave this Earth and walk back into the presence of God – what could be better than that? What will it be like to pass beyond the veil of forgetfulness and actually return to our Heavenly parents? Remembering Jesus helps me see that death is not a sad time. Surely we will smile as we rejoin Jesus and many loved ones!”
