Clarice's deep-rooted affection for Texas was evident throughout her life. Raised in South Texas by her father and grandmother, she was immersed in the close-knit Adams and Mumme families. Her numerous cousins became lifelong companions. Upon graduating from Beeville High School, Clarice pursued higher education at The University of Texas, where she not only embraced her identity as a Longhorn but also encountered her future spouse. Following her graduation from UT, Clarice and Paul were united in marriage under the auspices of the United States Army, subsequently relocating to Germany where Paul was stationed. She thrived in her new international environment, eagerly exploring novel experiences, attempting to master the German language, and welcoming her first canine companion, Otto. Clarice cherished the memories of this period and had the opportunity to revisit Germany and reconnect with an old acquaintance in late 2025.
Upon their return to the United States, Clarice, Paul, and Otto embarked on the Queen Elizabeth II, bringing with them a Volkswagen Beetle. They established their residence in Houston, where Clarice commenced her career at the prestigious McCann Erickson advertising agency. Her tenure at McCann, spanning over half of her professional life, involved extensive time at print houses overseeing proofing processes. During this period, she adeptly balanced her career with motherhood, welcoming two daughters. Clarice found great fulfillment in her work, valuing both her professional relationships and the sense of achievement it provided.
Following her time at McCann, Clarice transitioned to a role at Direct Marketing Network, specializing in direct mail campaigns. Her years with the organization were marked by professional growth, culinary acclaim for her renowned Harvey Wallbanger cake, and the cultivation of enduring friendships and professional connections that extended into her retirement.
In her retirement years, Clarice devoted herself to family pursuits, collaborating with her daughter on the construction of her first and only custom home, while also embracing her role as an engaged grandmother to her two grandsons. She was a constant presence at Jake and Cole's significant events, offering unwavering support for their artistic endeavors and personal interests. Clarice took pleasure in their company, frequently hosting them for swimming sessions and welcoming their friends to her residence. Additionally, she maintained her cultural interests as a season ticket holder for the Houston Ballet and Symphony, and indulged in culinary experiences at her preferred dining establishments, with a particular fondness for desserts.
