

Darryl Jay Wiesenthal passed away suddenly at his home on Saturday, June 9, 2012. Darryl was born in Houston on August 25, 1961. He attended Bellaire High School and graduated from Southwest Texas State University. As a pre-teen, Darryl began what would be his favorite job ever! He became one of the ball boys for the Houston Oilers, a job he held for many years even after he graduated from college. He was affectionately known as "Lightning" by the players and coaching staff. While working in his family’s business, Harolds in the Heights, he still took off to help the Oilers whenever possible.
Darryl spent his entire career in retail; a career that began at Harold's in the Heights and continued at Nordstrom Galleria. His warm smile and his sweet disposition won him many loyal customers who became his friends. Darryl’s kindness was legendary. He never met a stranger.
Darryl was a loving son, grandson, brother, uncle, cousin and friend and will be missed by many. He is predeceased by his father, Harold Wiesenthal, his grandparents, Goldie and Emanuel Wiesenthal, his nephew, Jonathan Winkler, his uncles, Milton Wiesenthal and Arnold Walkow and his aunt and uncle Lillian and Buddy Pollak.
Darryl is survived by his mother, Eleanor Lonschein and her husband David, his brother, Michael Wiesenthal and his wife, Shelley, his sister, Tammy Winkler and her husband, John, his nephews and nieces Alexandra and Jared Wiesenthal and Sterling and Whitney Winkler, his aunt, Ruth Walkow and numerous cousins and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Congregation Beth Yeshurun in the Freedman-Levit Sanctuary, 4525 Beechnut.
Following the service, interment will take place at Beth Yeshurun Cemetery, 1037 N. Post Oak Road.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made in Darryl’s name to The Torah Project at Congregation Beth Yeshurun, 4525 Beechnut, Houston, TX 77096.
