Edith Siegel was born on April 6, 1915 to Abraham and Minnie Lippman in Manhatten, New York. She married Jesse Siegel on April 7, 1940 and they had two children, Harvey David and Rande. She is predeceased by her parents, her brother, Ben, her sister, Frances and also by her former husband, Jesse. She is survived by her children, Harvey and Karen Siegel of Yardley, Pennsylvania, and Rande and Jack Wagner of Houston, Texas; and by her cherished and beloved grandchildren, Jessica Wagner , Alex and Nathalie Wagner and Matthew Siegel. She is also survived by her niece, Harriet Fibel of New Rochelle, New York. Edith was taught at a young age the value of education. She was very proud of her affiliation with and graduation from both Hunter High School and Hunter College. For many years she was a Kindergarten teacher in New York. Upon her move to Houston in 1958, she furthered her career teaching first grade at Braeburn Elementary until her retirement in 1980. She then began a second career working for the Sisterhood Organization at Temple Emanu El. She retired for the second time at the age of 80 in 1985. Edith was a strong and independent woman, because of both circumstances and choice. By example, she left her children and grandchildren a legacy of strong values, love of knowledge, and good health. She met each day with gratitude. It was a gift from God to all those who knew her to have her with us for all these years. She will be greatly missed. A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 15 at 1:00 pm at Emanu El Memorial Park at 8341 Bissonnet, officiated by Rabbi Roy Walter. In memory of Edith, contributions may be sent to Temple Emanu El, 1500 Sunset Blvd, Houston, TX 77005 or to the charity of your choice.
