

Edward Franklin Garfinkel, “Eddie”, 82, passed away on the 9th day of February 2017 at his home in Sugar Land, Texas. He was born on November 23rd, 1934 in Newark, New Jersey to Morris Garfinkel and Anna Dubowy Garfinkel.
Eddie grew up in Newark, New Jersey. Following high school he joined the Army to serve in the Korean War. After his military service, he returned to Newark and soon after moved to Miami, Florida where he married Carole Winston Garfinkel in 1964. They were happily married for 52 years. Eddie greatly enjoyed playing the drums, fishing, bowling, telling mostly good jokes and having a good corned beef sandwich.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Morris, and his sister, Carol.
He is survived by his spouse Carole of Brooklyn, New York; his daughter, Melissa Sambrooks and son, Charles Garfinkel; his sister, Francine Engler of Princeton Junction, New Jersey; his grandchildren Laine and Michael Sambrooks, Abigail and Lillian Garfinkel; great-grandchildren Gia and Elizabeth Sambrooks, and James and Campbell Sambrooks; and other relatives.
A graveside service and burial will be held at Emanu El Memorial Park 8341 Bissonnet, Houston, TX on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at 3:00 pm. The family will be greeting friends and relatives thereafter. Arrangements under the care of Levy Funeral Directors.
