

Emma Hernandez, 72, passed away in Houston on August 14, 2022. She was born, raised, and attended college in El Paso. She is preceded in death by her father, Jose A. Hernandez, and her mother, Julieta, both from El Paso. She is survived by: her husband of 44 years, Robert J. Davidson of Houston; her brother, Robert Hernandez of El Paso; her brother, Edward Hernandez and his wife Rozella L. Hernandez of Austin; her niece, Emily R. Hemphill, her husband, William Hemphill III, and her son, William Hemphill IV, of Fayetteville AR; her nephew, John Hernandez of Austin; and, her brother-in-law, Louis Davidson, and his wife, Earline of Houma, La.
She graduated from Loretto Academy in 1967. At the University of Texas at El Paso, she earned a BS degree in Mathematics (1971), a BS degree in Physics (1972), and an MS degree in Physics (1974). In 1974, she joined Texaco's geophysical group in Houston. This is where she met her husband, Robert. She retired from Texaco in 2001.
Emma was a strong believer that women are entitled to pursue any dream they desire. Moreover, she was our family's angel, taking care of her mother and brother for nearly 15 years. She was generous, intelligent, and a truly remarkable individual. She faced her final days, not with fear, but with curiosity.
All services are on Saturday, September 3, 2022, Houston TX. Visitation 10:00 am, Rosary 10:30 am, Funeral Mass 11:00 am, all at St. Thomas More Catholic Church 10330 Hillcroft St. Houston, TX 77096. Inurnment 1:00 pm at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.
