Eva LaMerle Johnson passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital at 6:45 a.m. on March 7, 2011 at the youthful age of 83 due to complications from her battle with cancer. She was born on September 24, 1927 in Center, Texas. In her early 20’s, she moved to Houston where she married Irving Marose Johnson Sr., who passed away in 1997. Whether it was raising her children or working by her husband’s side at Brewington Typewriter, Eva was a woman who took great pride in supporting her family.
After the passing of her husband, she moved to The Terrace at First Colony where she was blessed with numerous friendships over the past decade. Eva also enjoyed many years traveling internationally, reading, and solving puzzles in her free time. As a side note, there was never a crossword puzzle she did not conquer.
She is survived by her three sons, Irving Johnson Jr., Howard Johnson, and Robert Johnson, twelve grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. Her inspiration and determination will be missed by all.
