Born in Pleasanton, TX on September 6, 1928 to Henry and Nellie Hilburn, Evelyn was raised on her parents’ farm in Pleasanton along with four siblings, John, Elizabeth, Florence and Bill. She graduated High School in 1945 and was married to William (Bill) Houghton in 1948. She went on to have a long and successful career as an insurance executive. Evelyn was a devoted and active member of Westbury United Methodist Church for over 50 years. Evelyn’s first love was her family.
She and Bill raised two sons, William Michael (Mike) and James Kenneth (Kenny), with love and devotion. But her love, kindness and generosity was felt by all who knew her. Evelyn is survived by her sons, her daughters-in-law Vickie and Gloria, and her four grandchildren Michael, Katie, Benjamin and Natalie.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday November 22nd at 10:00 a.m at Westbury United Methodist Church, 5600 Willowbend, Houston, TX 77906.
