I remember waking up if I stayed at his house to John Philip Souza marching music blasting through his home.

We got to know Lenny and June through Shalom Cypress.  Such a loving couple.  Lenny was intelligent, articulate, kind, and had such a wonderful demeanor.  He always had such a zest for life and its rewards.   

We will miss him very much.

My sincerest condolences. It was a pleasure to have met someone as inspiring as papa Lenny. He was such a remarkable person. A critical thinker a gentle soul and always had a funny story that would make you smile. We ‘re very thankful our kids had such an amazing Great Grandfather. He was always willing to visit their school during conversations about World War II, and every year students looked forward to seeing him. He had a way with connecting with people through simple conversations, and I’ll always remember that about him. Our conversations during birthdays, holidays, and family gatherings will always be held deep in my heart. 

Everybody's words were so beautiful.  Poppa Lenny was a wonderful person and presence.  Unfortunately we did not get to see him once he moved out of Cleveland, but Rona kept us in the loop as to what was going on.  We will for ever miss that BOOMING voice and his sense of humor.

My folks live in Avanti next door to Mrs. & Mr. Kaplan.   Such an extremely nice couple.  My sister and I spent a lot of time at Avanti  before lockdown.  The first time we met Mr Kaplan he told us to call him Papa Lenny.   He was sharp as a whip.  Always letting us know he remembered our names.  It was a blessing to have met him and I know his family and friends will miss him.  Rest in eternal peace Papa Lenny !!

I remember growing up in the back seat of my father's (Franklyn) car driving across Pennsylvania [are we there yet?] to Cleveland [when are we stopping to eat?] and staying with Uncle Lenny, Aunt Betty, Mickey and Ronna at the house on Severn Rd.  I always felt loved and at home there.  I miss them both.

I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Lenny when he lived in Cypress TX. He would often host me for Torah Study class at his home with The Shalom Cypress group. He was a very kind and sweet man and also was a talented artist. I will miss him. May Hashem comfort the family and may you all  only know simchas going forward.

“They” say the price of love is grief.  No matter how prepared you might be, you are never ready for that final goodbye.  Uncle Lenny lived a long, kind, loving life and he will always be missed. Zach, Erin, Lauren and Caroline are lucky to have had so many years with him to create memories that will keep him alive in their hearts and minds. Even the great grands have pictures together.
I will always remember his great sonorous voice, his wit, his intelligence and compassion.  I remember so many weekends bunking in with Ronna on Severn Rd and Uncle Lenny turning up the stereo LOUD on Sunday mornings to wake us.  I remember discussions with him as we vied  for use of the Vomit and Puke.  We watched  man land on the moon in the living room on Severn and his insight to that event. Uncle Lenny took some of my favorite pictures of Jaime, at a glass kitchen table in the new house.  What a wonderful, wonderful Uncle.  I’m fortunate to have these and so many more memories.  May his memory be for a blessing.

Growing up my Uncle Lenny was always this big presence at family gatherings, his size, of course and his deep voice, yet always unassuming.  In thinking about him I remember the camera he got me when he heard I would be taking a photography class in college so I would have the proper equipment. I smile and chuckle a little whenever I see the little wooden “chopping block” he made in honor of our oldest son’s bris. And of course think of the nickname, “Great Uncle Boombox” our kids gave him during an afternoon in a hotel swimming pool during Josh’s Bar Mitzvah weekend.  The last of his generation in our family, may his memory be a blessing.
