

James Vincent Gilder, 50, beloved husband of Dee Dee Gilder and father of Riley and Reid Gilder, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 following his courageous two year battle with colon cancer. Jamie was born and grew up in Bethesda, MD where he attended grade school and high school. A graduate of the University of Maryland, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance, and was a proud member of the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. After graduation, Jamie began a long and successful career in wealth management, most recently with Oppenheimer & Co. as Managing Director of the Greater Houston Area and Montana Offices. Dee Dee and Jamie were married in Nashville, TN in 1997 in celebration with friends and family. A devoted father, Jamie was dedicated to supporting Riley, age 9, and Reid, age 8, as their baseball coach, guiding them through his outstanding example as a role model, instilling strong values of fair play, cheering their successes, and guiding their moral and spiritual education until the very end. Jamie had a smile and a sense of humor that lit up any room he entered. His joy of living was contagious and his generosity was enormous, supporting local and national charitable causes. His devotion to family and friends will always be remembered.
Jamie is survived by wife and children, his loving parents, John and Margaret Gilder, sister Christine Hintz, her husband Berny Hintz, brother Mark Gilder, his wife Karen Gilder, sister Anne Overton, sister Kathleen Edquist, her husband Henry Edquist, brother Larry Gilder, his wife Michelle Gilder, sister Margaret Black, and her husband Doug Black, father-in-law Brodie Belliveau, mother-in-law Sally Belliveau, sister-in-law Kathryn Allen, brother-in-law Kurt Allen and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
A Funeral Mass will be held in honor of Jamie's life on Saturday, July 12th at 1:30 pm. It will be held at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 6800 Buffalo Speedway, Houston, TX 77025. Immediately following the Mass, as Jamie has requested, all are invited to join a celebration held in the Parish Hall adjacent to the Church.
In lieu of flowers, Jamie and the family have asked donations be mailed to Oppenheimer & Co. Suite 1500, 711 Louisiana Street, Houston, TX 77002. Make checks payable to the "James Gilder Fund for Cancer Causes" and write “Acct. # G53-1391741” in the memo line of the check.
