Josefina Soliven Tobias Tansiongco, age 98, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2010. She was born in Santo Domingo, Ilocos Sur, Philippines to Maria Soliven Tobias and Melecio Tobias. Josefina was a retired elementary school teacher.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alberico Tansiongco, M.D.(died 10/31/1971); her brothers; her son-in-law, Fred Welzin; and her great-grandchild, Cassie Helsel.
Josefina is survived by her children, Ermel Tansiongco, M.D. and his wife Rosemarie of Colorado Springs, CO; Susan T. Endriga and her husband Case of Houston, TX; Melanie T. Welzin of Houston, TX; Alberico Tansiongco, Jr. and his wife Deorie of Houston, TX; and Dennis Tansiongco, M.D. and his wife Shirley of Roslyn, NY; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; only sister, Angelita Tangonan; and numerous other loving relatives and a host of friends.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Vigil Service beginning at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 6700 Ferris. The Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 8, 2010 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 6800 Buffalo Speedway, Houston, TX 77025.
