

June Dexter Marcantel, 96, of Houston, Texas, passed away on March 12, 2021. She was born in Danbury, Connecticut, on June 15, 1924. June was the oldest of two children born to Byron F. Dexter and Edith Rogers Boswell.
June grew up in Danbury, graduating from Danbury High School. She then moved to Bridgeport, Connecticut, to attend Business College. There she met and married Herschel Ray Marcantel, a Chief Petty Officer in the Navy. They lived in New England, San Diego, California, and settled in Slidell, Louisiana. June and Herschel had two children and were happily married for more than 50 years.
June worked as the school secretary at Salmen High School for many years. She attended the First United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Slidell Women’s Civic Club, the Westchester Estates Garden Club, and the Woodland Homemakers Group. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, cooking, and line dancing. She was a wonderful wife and mother, and always made time for her friends and family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Herschel Ray Marcantel; son, Dexter Ray Marcantel; and sister, Carol Taconi.
She is survived by her daughter, Laura Robertson, and son-in-law, Wayne Robertson; and three grandsons, Bradford (Nicky) Robertson, Benjamin (Erin) Marcantel, and William (Lexie) Marcantel; and her great granddaughter, Simone Marcantel.
The family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date.
