Katie was born in Houston, Texas to her loving parents, Robynn and Bob Estrada. Katie was a loving, kind, creative, fun precious girl who was always herself, no matter what anyone thought. She was accepting and kind to everyone she met.
Katie grew up in a household filled with the love of God and she made her profession of faith and was baptized in 2003.
Katie was a very good student and loved learning throughout her life. She attended West University Elementary, Pershing Middle School and Lamar High School. She loved her friends and loved to make people laugh. As a young girl, Katie was involved in dance, soccer and basketball, but her passions were reading, spending time with friends, working on puzzles and any creative activity.
Katie also loved being involved in the Children’s and Youth ministries of West University Baptist. She enjoyed VBS, Super Summer Stuff camp and the Summer Stock musicals, highlighted by the Summer Stock lead role in her fifth grade year. She always cherished the friendships she made in the Youth Group and enjoyed all the Youth activities including Mission Trips in various states, BigStuf Beach Retreats and working with children at Agape Development.
Family was very important to Katie. She loved researching family history and provided many interesting facts previously unknown to both sides of the family. She also enjoyed numerous out-of-town trips to visit family. Katie had a wonderful relationship with her brother Andy and looked up to and loved him so very much!
Katie loved animals of all kinds, but she especially loved her dogs. Theo and Arlo were very special to her and helped her through her times of struggle.
Katie’s struggle with anxiety prevented her from doing many things, but she was a fighter and overcame so much with her fierce determination and hard work. In her new apartment she loved cooking, decorating, many creative outlets, such as amazing drawings, calligraphy and crocheting. As always, she continued to expand her horizons by reading and researching. She loved reading different books whether it was a classic or a less read novel that she stumbled upon in various cities that she visited.
Katie’s struggles are now over and she is at peace in her Savior’s arm. Her Savior’s light has overcome the darkness.
