Kilborn, Madge Mary McGary – was called home to be with her heavenly Father on August 3, 2012. She was born on June 20, 1927 in Norwalk, Wisconsin to Clara Lucinda & Clayton Eugene McGary. She moved with her parents and her only sister, Arllys (Audy) LaVaughn to San Antonio, Texas in 1935 due to the poor health of her father and they lost him when she was 14 years old. She graduated from Jefferson High School, then entered into and graduated from the Medical & Surgical Hospital of San Antonio in the nursing program as a Registered Nurse (RN). Then she met her beloved husband Walter Elijah Kilborn,Jr., fell in love and was married on April 6, 1950. And so it all began and they were blessed with four girls, Lucinda Jane, Mary Beth, Anne Marie and Jean Maureen. She loved to hang out at the beach with her girls (before it was bad for you), she loved expressing her creative side in cooking & baking (no one can make chocolate chip oatmeal cookies like she can), decorating, painting and gardening, loved road trips, working crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. She cared for the poor and the needy and was passionate about helping veterans and wounded warriors. She was up early in the morning and stayed up late at night just to do everything she wanted for her family. She made everyday special for everyone she loved and she did it with such ease. We will miss you dearly Mama, your beautiful smile and your sweet, gentle, loving spirit.
“A wife of noble character, who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands. She gets up while it is still dark; she provides food for her family and portions for her servant girls. She sets about her work vigorously; her arms strong for her tasks. She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not out at night. In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers. She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy. She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple. She is clothed in strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.” Proverbs 31:10ff
She is survived by her husband Walter and her children Cindy, Mary, Anne (Joe) Gruszka, and Jean (Richard) Golladay; her grandchildren Kari (Eric) Buege, Sarah Gruszka, Hillary (Mike) Jackson, Katherine and Jeffrey Golladay; great grandchild Noah Buege; her dear sister Arllys (Frank) Drane, her nephew Donnie and nieces Jackie (Peter) Newton and Debbie (Jay) Robison.
We will celebrate her wonderful life on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Earthman Funeral Home in Bellaire, Texas. Viewing from 9:00-11:00 am with a service at 11:00 am. Committal to follow at Houston National Cemetery.
