Mary Liebert Thorwegen

Mary Joyce Liebert Thorwegen was born May 10, 1927 and passed away November 2, 2014. Mary was affectionately known as “Granny” to everyone. The middle of 5 children she had a zest for life. She liked doing new things, traveling and working in her yard. Mary was a Paralegal, Notary Republic, before retiring and becoming a docent at the Houston Zoo and a home stay for foreign exchange students. She was the President of the Bellaire Civic Club and Condit Elementary PTA. She was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority as well as the Catholic Daughters, The Krewe of New Orleans. Mary was a den mother with the boy scouts as well as very active with the girl scouts too. One of her favorite past times was reading.

Mary is preceded in death by her dad, mom, 2 sisters and 1 brother. She is survived by three daughters, Janet Andrews and husband Dan, Barbara Thorwegen and husband Louis Rodriguez, and Mary Johnson and husband Craig; two sons, Stephen Thorwegen and wife Charlotte, Wayne Thorwegen and wife Donna, 10 grandchildren Elliott, Tonni, Stephanie,Helena, Lynda, Philip, Carl, and Katie, Regina and Eric; 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild, 1 brother Robert Liebert and wife Betty, and sister-in-law Betty Liebert and her beloved Bubba.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with a Rosay recited at 7:00 PM, Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 6700 Ferris St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM, Friday, November 7, 2014 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 6921 Chetwood Dr. The Rite of Committal will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
