

Gloria Maxine Woody Prawl, lovingly known as “Max” or “Maxine” was born on February 10, 1948 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Betty Sue Bates and George Thomas Woody. On December 25, 2015 at Methodist Hospital, Houston, Texas, God picked this beautiful flower from His garden.
Maxine received her education from Catholic and Public Schools of New York City. She accepted Christ as her personal savior at a young age while attending Holy Rosary Catholic School, Brooklyn, NY and she re-dedicated her life to Christ at Brown Memorial Baptist Church, Brooklyn, NY.
Maxine initially married Edward Towns, Jr. and from that union one daughter was born, LaTeace Towns. After the marriage dissolved, Maxine while working full time and raising her daughter, went back to school. She graduated from the Mandl School College of Allied Health, New York City, NY as a Medical Lab Technician. It was while working at Brookdale Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY, that she met the true love of her life, Clayton Oliver Prawl. They were married in a small ceremony on September 13, 1972, Queens, NY. From this beautiful union three children were born: Cytinya, Sha’ Shane and Clayton, Jr. Maxine and Clayton resided in Richmond Hill, NY and were active members of Brown Memorial Baptist Church. In 1980, the family relocated to Houston, TX.
Maxine loved her children dearly and truly cherished her grandchildren. She had a very sweet, loving and giving spirit. She always had a special place in heart for family and friends. She not only volunteered at school for her children, but also for her grandchildren. When she was able she was very active, getting involved in all types of programs. For many years on Christmas she worked with Channel 13 feeding the homeless. Maxine always supported and encouraged others to pursue their dreams. She had a keen sense of style; she loved nice clothes, bags, shoes and jewelry. Maxine enjoyed life; she loved having a good time with family and friends listening to music, dancing, and laughing. One of her favorite things to do was traveling with her husband and friends.
Maxine leaves to mourn her beloved husband, Clayton Oliver Prawl, Sr., her four children: LaTeace (Fred) Cuellar, Cytinya (Byron) Bowers, and Clayton (Lydia) Prawl, Jr., Houston, TX, and Sha’ Shane Prawl, Richmond Hill, NY; six grandchildren: Travis Prawl-Bowers, Abel Gonzales, Taylor Bowers, Kailynne Prawl, and Lauryn Prawl, Houston, TX, and Ayden Coleman, Richmond Hill, NY; one sister, Joyce Irvin, Richmond Hill, NY; one Mother-in-Law, Florence Bailey, St. Albans, NY; five Brother-in-Laws: George Irvin, Sr., Richmond Hill, NY; Reginald Prawl, Sr., Houston, TX; David Waters, Edgewater, New Jersey; Chris Waters, Long Beach, CA, and Carl Smith, Queens, NY; six Sister-in-Laws: Patrice Smith, Queens, NY; Yvonne Prawl and Debbie Gaillord, Houston, TX; Doris Fisher, Brooklyn, NY; Toni Silver, Atlanta, GA, and Sharon Waters, Edgewater, New Jersey, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and special friends
