Patricia Ann Maurer

Patricia (Pat) Maurer peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 12, 2025. Pat was born on the 4th of January 1948 in Hazel Park, Michigan to Donald Joseph Fournier and Dorothy Ruth Fournier.

Pat grew up in Hazel Park, Michigan. She went to college in Marquette in the Upper Peninsula at Northern Michigan University and in Lavonia, at Madonna Catholic University where she became a nurse. She made her way to Houston, Texas to work in the Medical Center where she began her career as a nurse and then case manager caring for her patients at TIRR for over 30 years. She specialized in caring for brain injury patients in rehabilitation programs and handled some of the toughest cases, often fighting with insurance companies to get the best possible care for them. While some saw her patients' needs as impossible cases, she saw them as people that needed care and treated them and their family with dignity.

After moving to Houston to pursue her nursing career, she met her husband, Robert (Bob) Maurer at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in the Young Adults group. Bob would say he knew right away that she was the one.

Patricia was an amazing woman with unwavering dedication to her family. She always did the right thing, no matter how difficult. She was never one to be heard complaining or talking bad about others. She loved opening her home for parties and get togethers for family and friends. She loved a good conversation and was always quick to lend an ear and listen to anyone with respectful attention. She had a tremendous memory and months later she'd surprise you with follow up questions showing she truly listened and cared.

At an early age Pat developed a love of the outdoors. She would tell stories of growing up in Michigan, going to university in the Upper Peninsula and living in their lake house that was built by her family. Her face would light up when she told stories of going frogging, dipping for smelt or hiking in the beautiful outdoors of Michigan.

She and Bob were married May 23, 1981 and she dedicated her time and energy to giving everything to her family. Her son was the joy of her life and with her positive nature and encouragement, she instilled in him that he could do anything he set his mind to. She was the true backbone of their family.

Pat is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years Robert A. Maurer and her parents Dorothy and Donald Fournier. She is survived by her son Joseph Alan Maurer, her brother Robert Fournier and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate and honor her life will be held on January 23, 2025 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 6921 Chetwood Dr., Houston, TX 77081. A Rosary will be held at 10:30 AM followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM with a reception to follow.
