

Patsy Ruth (Miller) Burton passed away peacefully to her new home on June 21. She was born in Gonzales, TX on February 5, 1926. After graduating from Gonzales HS, she married Andy Burton. She was predeceased by her husband of 71 years, and is survived by a daughter, Diane Burton Taylor of Basking Ridge NJ and a son, David Wayne Burton, of Katy TX., four grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. She was surrounded by photos of family In her home.
After her marriage to Andy, she moved to several cities as the wife of an Humble Oil Co employee. While living in Oklahoma City, she attended business school and began working as a bookkeeper. After moving back to Houston, she began working at KIKK radio in 1965, at that time the premier C & W station in the Houston market. Although starting as a part-time accounts receivable clerk, she eventually became business manager for KIKK AM & FM. There she became known as “Mother Superior” based on the way she was able to control the free-spirited sales force. She retired in 1993 and began doing volunteer work with the Methodist Women’s Auxiliary, ushering at concerts and theater events
She took great pride in her yard, raking leaves and sweeping the curb. She also took her twice-daily walk at, considering her age, a good pace.
Visitation will be at the Levy Funeral Home, 4525 Bissonnet Blvd, Bellaire from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Thursday June 26 followed by burial in Gonzales Memorial Cemetary. A Memorial Service will be held at the Westbury United Methodist Church, 5700 Willowbend Dr. at 11:00 AM Friday, June 27, followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Westbury UMC in memory of Patsy.
