Ronald Michael Lloyd, age 80, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2011. He was born on July 9, 1930, to the late Raymond T. Lloyd and Ilse Koetschan Lloyd in Oak Park, Illinois. After receiving his PhD from Cal Tech in Geobiochemistry, he retired from the Shell Research Lab after 20 years as a respected scientist and then worked as an Independent Geological Consultant. Mike enjoyed prospecting, sailing, reading and his time in the Caribbean.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond and Richard Lloyd; and daughter, Katherine Bournias. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Virginia N. Lloyd; son, Michael R. Lloyd and his wife Sue; grandchildren, Anastacia Miller, Jennifer Denne, Christopher Lloyd and John Lloyd; and great-grandchild, Ayden Lloyd.
A memorial service honoring Mike’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 6700 Ferris.
