We have lost a kind, beautiful soul. Rose Helen Stout, 92, of Houston, Texas (originally from Columbus, Ohio) was called home to our Lord on August 20, 2020. Many have described Rose as one of the kindest, nicest people they had met. Rose always had a smile and kind words for friends, family, and even those she had just met. Rose loved her family and enjoyed her time with them at Friday family dinner or at special celebrations. She loved to keep in contact with her family near and far and had an amazing memory for birthdays, anniversaries, and special events often sending greeting cards to help celebrate those special days. Rose devoted her life to the service of others. She spent many years as a Cub Scout Den Mother.
She served her church community by being an original member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Houston, Texas. She also served many years in the Young at Heart Society at St. Vincent and loved greeting the members as they arrived at the meetings. She also spent several years in the St. Vincent de Paul Sewing Club although many of the other members remarked on how she was a member of the group for so long and really did not sew anything. For Rose, the joy was socializing not sewing. She kept her mind sharp by completing crossword puzzles daily (although she did admit to referring to the answer pages at times). Rose had a wonderful sense of humor and always enjoyed joking and laughing with her grandchildren, who were a special joy in her life. Rose was a kind, caring, dear person and those who knew her were blessed.
Rose is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John Paul Stout; her parents, Henry and Gisela Heurich (Staab) and her stepfather, Emil Heurich; her brother, John Heurich; her daughter-in-law, Lori Stout (Scott); her nephew, Robert Heurich; and her niece, Rita Welsh (Heurich).
Rose leaves a host of loving and adoring family and friends including her sisters, Gertrude Hoy (Heurich) and Dorothy Carter (Heurich); her son, Mark Stout, and daughter, Susan Perrett (Stout), who were both blessed to have been adopted; her grandchildren, Nicole Kacanda (Stout), Eric Stout, and Kevin Stout; and her precious great granddaughter, Evelyn Rose Kacanda (whose middle name honors her great grandmother). Although those surviving will long feel the pain of her loss, they will all carry with them the love and joy Rose brought to each of their lives…a gift that will endure forever.
