

She lived in Austin, Texas for many years. In the early 60’s Sarah moved to Houston with her 4 boys. She worked for Bekins Moving and Storage in Houston for over a decade where she became that company’s top selling female sales rep. She was # 1 in the nation for many years. She was highly respected in the moving industry then and her reputation is still talked about today.
Sarah and her husband Harley Fleming retired in the mid 80’s and moved to a small ranch outside of Giddings, Texas in Lee County. Here they went into business creating Texas related crafts and products. They owned a shop in Winkleman, Texas (outside Brenham) called Tolegate that was quite popular for some years. Harley cut and prepared the wood and Sarah painted and finished it.
Sarah loved Mexican food, a good box of chocolates, a good book, table games with friends and an occasional Colorado Bulldog. She loved to travel and was especially fond of Colorado. Her life was never dull with her four boys. One a professional photographer, one a Diesel Mechanic, one a builder and one a PE Consultant.
She belonged to Westside Christian Church in Bellaire, Texas and attended Sharpstown Baptist Church for a while. She read her Bible regularly until her sight weakened.
Sarah was preceded in death by her husband Harley Fleming.
She is survived by her four sons, Doug Spiller and wife Marion of Salado, Tx., Mike Spiller of Houston, Tx., Caldwell Spiller of Seattle, Wa., and Greg Spiller and Becky Tullos of Houston, Tx.; daughter-in-law, Stacy Spiller; 8 Grandchildren, Tami Daus – Austin, Texas, Douglas Spiller II of Missouri City, Texas, Krista Daily – Albuquerque, NM, Debi Wilson - Flower Mound, Texas, Brent Spiller – Houston, Texas, Colli Spiller – Seattle, Wa., Natasha Hacker– Sugarland, Texas, and Mark Russell – Colorado Springs, Co.; 12 Great Grandchildren & 3 Great Great Grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 10, 2012, with a viewing beginning at 5:00 p.m., at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 11, 2012 in the Giddings City Cemetery, Giddings, TX.
