

Shirley Jean Frisbie, 94, passed away on Sunday morning, December 1, 2024 at Belmont Village Senior Living facility in Houston’s West University. She was born on October 3, 1930 in Portland, Oregon to George and Martha Ritter. Shirley graduated from Portland’s Jefferson High School in 1948 and from Oregon State University in 1953 with a secretarial administration degree. She was president of her sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma.
Shirley married George C. Frisbie on June 27, 1953 in Portland. George and Shirley had two sons, Scott and John. The family moved to Houston in 1962. As her sons reached college age, Shirley returned to the workforce in the mid-1970s, working at Houston’s Fluor Engineering for about 20 years as an executive assistant.
Shirley was a wonderful, loving mother and grandmother, who was kind to everyone and always had a positive attitude. She was an expert cook and seamstress, had a unique sense of humor, and loved watching the Houston Astros and Rockets. She will be dearly missed by friends and family.
Shirley is survived by son Scott, grandson Alex and granddaughter Taylor, son John, daughter-in-law Tricia, grandson Ben and granddaughter Nona. Her husband George died in 2016.
At her request, no services will be held for Shirley. Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home will handle her cremation, and in 2025 the family will return her remains to the side of husband George at their mausoleum in Portland, Oregon. Any donations on her behalf may be made to an organization of your choice.
