

Theresa R. “Nitita” Coe, age 100, died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, November 28, 2011 at Bedford Residence in Houston. She was born August 14, 1911 to Candeleria and Jose Rodriguez in Monterrey, Mexico.
Theresa was well known as Mrs. Cantu of Cantu Studio Inc., a family owned business since 1935. She was an active member in her church, Holy Ghost where she participated in the Wednesday Night Prayer Group, Sewing Group and the Teresian Sisters a society of St. Teresa of Jesus. She was loved by many because of her giving nature. Her home was open to many family members as well as friends in need.
Theresa is preceded in death by her husband Joe Cantu; second husband, Harris Coe; two sons, Hector Cantu, and Manuel Cantu; sister, Margaret Garcia and brother, I.R. “Nacho” Vasquez.
She is survived by her daughters-in-law, Alma Cantu and Miriam Cantu; grandchildren, David Cantu, Ricky Cantu, Monica Cantu, Elizabeth Cantu, Manny Cantu and Mimi Cantu; great grandchildren, Hannah and Rachel Cantu, Jimmy Brenham and Caden Grae Cantu; brother, Alfonso Vasquez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to visitation with the family from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 1, 2011, at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 6700 Ferris. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 2, 2011, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 6921 Chetwood Dr., with the Rev. Salvatore DeGeorge, Celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
