Tom Freedman, age 74, passed away on Monday, October 31, 2016 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. The son of Allan and Miriam Freedman, he was born on March 1, 1942 in Kansas City, MO. He attended the University of Oklahoma and graduated from the University of Missouri at Kansas City.
A job offer brought him to Houston in 1964 and on a fateful Halloween night that year, he met his lifelong partner Barbara Frumkin on a blind date. Their love lasted exactly 52 years to the day as he entered her life on October 31 and departed her life on October 31. His family was his greatest treasure and brought him much happiness.
He spent most of his professional career as a stock broker and insurance salesman. He also volunteered at Congregation Beth Israel in Brotherhood – ushering on High Holy Days for decades.
With a constant smile and positive attitude, Tom lived his final four years at Seven Acres Jewish Senior Care Services where he was well cared for with love and kindness by so many in the Miller and Cohen units. The family is eternally grateful to the wonderful staff at Seven Acres.
He is survived by his loving wife Barbara, daughters Lisa Folloder, Rochelle Mintz and husband Bobby, and son Jay Freedman and wife Cecilia. He was also the adored grandfather of Sean and Ryan Folloder, Alex and Matthew Mintz, and Gabriel, Ana and Marcos Freedman.
