With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Tsen Fang Yang Liu on January 22, 2024. Born on July 11, 1944, in Miaoli, Taiwan, Tsen Fang was a remarkable woman whose strength and determination were as inspiring as they were boundless.
A trailblazer from a young age, Tsen Fang secured a prestigious position at Taipei’s central post office - a rare feat for a woman of her time. Her life was a testament to the power of resilience and adaptability. In pursuit of better educational opportunities for her children, she courageously moved her family to Brazil. There, she triumphantly navigated the challenges of opening and running a successful restaurant in Recife, despite the language and cultural barriers.
Tsen Fang’s dedication to her family knew no bounds. She returned to Taiwan, only to leave again for Boston to assist her daughter with raising three young boys. Her love, support, and culinary skills left an indelible mark on her family and community. An avid cook, she delighted many with her exceptional Taiwanese cuisine and cooking classes. Her passion for food and learning continued throughout her life as she enjoyed exploring new recipes and techniques on YouTube, always eager to share her latest creations.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Chienling Lee, son-in-law ChenWei Lee, and grandchildren Zack, Max, and Sam; her son, Kai Yang, daughter-in-law Amy, and grandchildren Jayden and Trevor.
Tsen Fang was the embodiment of the 'Giving Tree', a favorite book of several of her grandchildren. Like the tree in the story, she gave selflessly and lovingly to her family and those around her. In honor of her giving spirit, we request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made by using the donation button below to the Periwinkle Foundation, a local charity dear to our hearts and aligned with Tsen Fang's legacy of care and compassion.
A memorial service to celebrate Tsen Fang Yang Liu's life will be held at 2 pm on January 28, 2024, at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 4525 Bissonnet, Bellaire, Texas 77401. A reception will follow in the Bissonnet Room.
Tsen Fang's legacy of love, perseverance, and culinary artistry will forever be cherished by those who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
