

William Lamar Whaley, 92, of Houston, Texas died on Friday, February 13, 2015. William was born in Brooksville, Georgia on April 26, 1922 to the late Robert and Marjorie Whaley. His two sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.
William is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Janice Byrd Whaley; daughters Edith Whaley Clifton of Tyler and Barbara Whaley Taylor of Houston; and son William Lamar Whaley, Jr. of Houston; grandsons Wade, Scott, Blake and Mark Clifton, and William and Daniel Whaley; great grandchildren Reid, Owen, Halle, and Isaac Clifton.
William grew up in Shellman, Georgia, where he graduated from Shellman High School. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp, where he graduated from radio school. After WWII, he came to Houston to visit his brother Ray, and he met and married his wife Janice. He worked 30 years for WKM Industries, a well-respected energy sector valve manufacturing operation. The last position he held was Manager - Quality Control, where he’s credited with several valve design patents that are still used in the energy sector today. He retired early, in order to travel with his wife and sister, Lillian, and to enjoy his grandsons.
He was a charter member of Westbury Baptist Church, where he attended until the time he moved to Treemont Retirement Community in 2013.
There will be a service celebrating William’s life on Monday, February 16, 11:00 a.m., at Westbury Baptist Church in Houston. Memorials may be made to Westbury Baptist Church
