

She was born in Santiago, Chile on November 5, 1937. And was number four of the 11 siblings. After six years studying at the University of commerce she graduated majoring in accounting with a minor in business administration. She married Gastón Arismendi in 1958 and had four children. Their names are Elizabeth, Gaston, Lorna, Ramon. In 1976 she graduated as a Red Cross nurse and she had one year of first aid training at the Catholic University in Chile.
In 1977 she formed the artistic rollerskating program at the Catholic University. She got certified to be a judge, and was selected to go to the Pan-American games in 1979 in Puerto Rico. It was here where she met Ernest Townsend who was a soccer referee for FIFA from Bermuda. They kept in touch for three years. They fell in love and decided to get married in 1982 and come to the US.
Her first job was at the Methodist hospital as a nurse assisting in the cardiology department. In 1986 she started to work at McGregor medical Association as a medical assistant for 12 years until she had to leave for disability. In the meantime she was a Sunday school teacher for seven years at St Philip’s United Methodist Church. She later started to work at Target until three years ago. She loved to do crafts, water and take care of her flowers, and make birthday cakes for her children and grandchildren every year. She was also a member of the Methodist women at St.Philip’s United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her children Elizabeth,Gaston, Lorna, and Ramon. Grandchildren , Gaston Jr, Eduardo, Philip, Andrew, Jay, Francisco, Constanza, Nicholas and three great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 29, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. Central time at St. Philips United Methodists Church at 5501 Beechnut St. Houston, TX 77096
