To the family of Alice Gardner:  I taught at Assumption High School 1978-83 when Alice was teaching and served on the Administrative Team.  She was such a dedicated and inspirational teacher/administrator ~ made my tenure at AHS very enjoyable!  I know she will be sorely missed by her many friends and her family.  Do cherish your wonderful memories.

Alice was a dedicated and gifted teacher, devoted to her students and colleagues.  She was always fun to be around and considerate of all she met.  We will indeed miss her.  May the angels lead her into paradise...

Alice Gardner was a true leader and inspiration to myself and all the students of Assumption High School.  She was a wonderful person with a caring heart and warm spirit.

Alice will be miss, She gave me the opportunity to teach, My first teaching job was under Alice Gardner I was allowed too grow as a person and professional, I develop the Christian values of family. Many friendships were developed. I must say that Alice was an inspiration to many students and teachers

My sincere condolences to the Gardner family.  Ms. Gardner was a teacher and principal to three generations in  my family.  She taught my mother at St. Theresa's Catholic High School, myself at Assumption High School, and my niece at Sr. Thea Bowman in East St. Louis.  She was an excellent educator and inspiration to us all.  She was a kind, patient, and caring individual.  She will be deeply missed.

How sorry I am to hear that Alice has gone to God!  I was a member of her first homeroom at STA where she joined us mid-year only 4-ish years older than my senior homeroom.  I was also in Spanish 2 and could not roll my "r's" (still can't, sorry Alice).  Later Alice & I became teacher peers as I taught for the diocese for 12 years.  Alice was a fun person to her peers & an inspiration to her students.  She will be missed

God has call home an honest, true, sincere, caring and authentic human being this past week.  Alice Gardner was an inspirational teacher/principal and role model to so many students at ESL-Assumption High School.  Her kindness and patience with children will be truly missed and cherished by all.

Alice became the first principal at All Saints Academy in 1990.  I was fortunate enough to have taught under her administration.  She was willing to guide St. Augustine and St. Dominic Schools in Breese to become one Catholic grade school.  All Saints community will be forever grateful for her leadership.  When Alice left ASA she painted a picture of our to granddaughters walking in the snow with their two dogs down a roadway to their house.  My husband and I will always treasure this gift and the gift of her friendship!  Rest in Peace, Alice!

My condolences to you, Mrs. Gardner. I met Alice after she became a pianist at St. Stephen.  I loved to hear her play and came to know her for only a brief time.
May your special memories of her comfort you this holiday season and always.

Miss Alice was one of the most caring and loving women to come into my life besides my mother and grandmother.  She was selfless and always put others ahead.  She exemplified what it is to be a great Christian through her teaching and her everyday life.  She also had a great sense of humor and sarcasm which as I grew, I came to appreciate.   She will be missed, but I know her legacy will live on in her students and all who loved her.  I am so thankful my mother picked her as a Godmother for me.  I have no doubt she is in heaven and most likely having a grand time singing and playing with the angles.

I'm so grateful to have known this lady. So kept me focus after the death of my dad in 1977. I'm going to keep her love ones in my prayers and the many students and colleagues in her life. Feel this tremendous loss. So, with my sincere heartfelt sympathy and condolences of the passing of Ms Alice Gardner. Thanks for being there. Rest in Glory of God Present.

Miss Gardner, you were an inspiration to all of us that were lead by you and taught by you at Assumption.  You gave me strength to move forward when I was having a hard time dealing with my fathers passing.  As we mourn the loss of a wonderful teacher and principal, Heaven has gained a beautiful spirit. I was so sorry to learn of Alice's passing in today's newspaper.  Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you at this most difficult time.

Sleep in peace, Ms. Gardner! I still remember sitting in your english class and writing all of those papers. I still use what you taught me on a daily basis!!! Your handwriting was impeccable, too!!! Wonderful teacher and principal. We have definitely lost a great Pioneer!

Ms. Gardner was a very inpirational educator while I attended Assumption High School.  She was the only teacher at Assumption  that insisted on calling me Kimberly instead of Kim!
