Chuck retired as a pipefitter with Monsanto after 36 years. He was a member of St. Paul United
Church of Christ, Belleville, Illinois and VFW Post 1739. He was a Merchant Marine and served in World War II with the United States Navy.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Minnie, nee Gronemeyer, Eckert; his sister, Louis E. Coles; and his brother, Robert H. Eckert.
Surviving are his loving wife of 64 years, Betty J., nee Pees Eckert; his three sons, Charles “Rick” R. (Nancy) Eckert, of Belleville, Illinois, Kevin J. Eckert, of Fairview Heights, Illinois, and Jeffrey P. (Stephanie) Eckert, of Belleville, Illinois; a grandson, Jeffrey S. Eckert, of Columbia, Illinois; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Memorials are appreciated to St. Paul United Church of Christ or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
Upon Chuck’s wishes, cremation was to be held, with private interment in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Belleville, Illinois.
