David worked for AT&T/Southwestern Bell Telephone from 1947 to November 1986. He started in Carthage, Mo., and retired in St. Louis, Mo., as the area manager of facilities. He was a boy scout leader, a member of the Elks, and Masons, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, horses and pets. David served in World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Melinda "Liz", nee Barker, Chew, whom he married on June 2, 1955; and his sister, Caroline Martin.
Surviving are his son, Keith E. Chew; daughter, Judy (Nolan) Moore; stepson, Steven (Connie) Martin; granddaughter, Bailey Alise Moore; step-granddaughter, Christine (Robert) Brewer; and great-granddaughter, Kyla Marie Dix.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association .
Funeral: Memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 22, 2010, at Pancratius Church, Fayetteville, Ill.
