Deborah "Grace" Barnett

Grace was born February 5, 1950 in East St. Louis, IL to Tracy L. and Roberta (Harrington) Dobbs.

She married Stephen L. Barnett and together they shared 33 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on May 23, 2017.

She was also preceded in death by her sister and best friend, Carolyn Green; brothers, James L. Dobbs, Samuel P. Dobbs, Dion K. Dobbs, Robert L. Dobbs; and stepson, Jeffrey Barnett.

She is survived by her children, Jesse Ebmeyer Jr. of Belleville, IL, Dwayne Ebmeyer of Collinsville, IL and Sonia Ebmeyer of Collinsville, IL; six grandchildren and many beloved great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and dear friends; and her dogs, Critter, Sophie, Pebbles and Rosie.

Throughout her life, Grace was a devoted animal lover, and her many dogs were an integral part of her family. These beloved companions brought her immeasurable joy, love, and comfort. She cherished each one deeply, finding constant companionship and loyalty in them over the years. Her dogs were more than pets—they were her constant friends and sources of happiness.

Grace retired after a distinguished career as a nurse, having devoted many years to providing compassionate care to her patients. Her kindness, dedication, and professionalism left a lasting impact on those she cared for, and her colleagues admired her for her unwavering commitment to the nursing profession. In her retirement, Grace found joy in spending time with family and friends, but her legacy of healing and compassion will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of working with her or being in her care.

She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

A visitation for Grace will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 10:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M. at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

A funeral service will follow at 12:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Final interment will be on Monday, March 3, 2025 at 10:00 A.M.
