

Flip was a retired Hod Carrier. Flip was a WW II Veteran, serving in the United States Navy. He was a member of Christ United Church of Christ, Belleville, Illinois. He was a member of the Local 197 Hod Carriers International Union, The U.S. LST Association and was a past founding member of Belleville Boat Club. Flip loved fishing, camping, traveling in his motor home with his wife, wintering in Florida. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather and uncle.
Flip was preceded in death by his loving wife Gladys “Gladdie” Haas, nee Vickers who he married on December 12, 1948 and passed away on December 27, 2007; parents, Adolph E. and Eleanora E., nee Heller, Haas; brothers, Oliver Haas, Milton (Wilma) Haas, Edward Haas and Kenneth Haas; sisters, Helen (Vernon) Weiss and Marie Semmler; brother-in-law, Ron Fenner.
Surviving are his loving and devoted children, Dave (Clark-Ann) Haas of Millstadt, Illinois and Cathy (Mark) Tissier of Belleville, Illinois; grandchildren, Tim (Jennifer) Haas, Jamie (Charity) Haas, Michael Haas, Amy (Doug) Wake and Jody (Ryan) Groff; great grandchildren, Abbey Haas, Katey Haas, Caleb Haas, Natalie Haas, Joseph Wake, Samuel Wake, Collin Wake, Georgia Wake, Oliver Groff, and a baby girl Groff due in July; brother, Kermit (Mary Lee) Haas; sister, Shirley Fenner; sister in law, Ann Haas; brother in law Don Semmler, also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
The family wishes to thank all the caregivers at the Garden Place, Millstadt Illinois for their care and help in making his last two years truly enjoyable, also, special thanks to all the care givers at Memorial Hospital and St. Paul’s Nursing Home for the great care Flip received.
Memorials in Flip’s memory may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children St. Louis or to St. Paul’s Nursing Home, Building Fund.
