

He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Hazel (Combs) Jones, one sister, Dale Centers, and two sons, Jimmy Jones and Charlie Jones.
Dean is survived by his wife of 38 years, Ruth Ann (Goldsmith) Jones, daughters, Teresa (Robert) Hobson of Augusta, Georgia, and Barb (Dennis) Starrett of Lenzburg, Illinois, one brother, Roger (Gail) Jones of Florida, sister-in-law, Carmelita Cardwell of St. Louis, Missouri, Nelda Reames of Freeburg, Illinois, brother-in-law, Dale (Linda) Goldsmith of Smithton, Illinois, and grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews.
Dean served his country valiantly in the United States Air Force retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant in the Air Force Reserves. He was a Vietnam and Desert Storm veteran. He was later a Civil Servant, retiring from Senior Housing Management Officer with three branches of military services and Office of Secretary of Defense, providing executive level technical housing expertise and liaison to the White House, GAO, Service Secretariats, and local government agencies covering many military installations. Dean was also a member of the Baptist faith.
In his spare time, he enjoyed watching Duke basketball, walking trails, horseshoes, ping pong, bowling, movies, listening to music, traveling the world and enjoying nature and he loved most to spend time with his family.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday, May 18th, 2024, at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, Belleville, Illinois.
Funeral will be at Noon on Saturday, May 18th, 2024, at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, Belleville, Illinois.
Interment will be private in Valhalla Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Belleville, Illinois.
Memorials may be made to Shriner’s Children’s Hospitals or to Disabled American Veterans.
