Joanne Louise Virginia Escobedo

Joanne was born January 3, 1935 in Belleville, IL to Roy and Estella (Waigand) Schaefer. They preceded her in death.

She married Edward Escobedo in 1953 and they shared nearly 70 years of marriage. He passed away on February 26, 2024. Ed and Joanne’s family finds great comfort and peace in knowing that they are reunited and together again.

Joanne is survived by her children, Anthony (Jeanie) Escobedo, Edward (Denise Rich) Escobedo, Melinda (Don) Schmidt, and Robyn (John) Voellinger; grandchildren, Jessica Shaw, Toni Escobedo, Casey Escobedo, Kelsie (Chris) Reaka, Nathan (Michaela) Williamson, Nicholas Williamson, Claire Marlen, and Cole Marlen; great-grandchildren, Kendall Escobedo, Easton Reaka, Mykenna Nance, Kenleigh Nance, Bryce Nance, Guage Escobedo and August Williamson.

Joanne was a homemaker and devoted her life to caring for her husband and children. She enjoyed baking and cooking for those she cared about and always enjoyed collecting special trinkets. A true dog lover, she cherished the companionship of her pets and remembered them fondly. In her later years, Joanne found joy in watching game shows, doing word searches and crossword puzzles. She will be remembered for her love of family and the simple joys that filled her life. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family has entrusted Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home in Belleville, IL with cremation rites.
