John Lewis Manche was born on July 14, 1934, in Medina, Illinois, to Francis M. Manche and Elva Manche (née Green). He passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026, at the age of 91.
He shared 66 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Joan E. Manche. Together they had two children. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lori Manche, and is survived by his son, John Manche Jr.
John was a proud grandfather to Breeze Collins (née Manche), Justin Manche, and Jayden Manche, and a great-grandfather to Luna, Ryder, Bo and Barrett.
He spent his career as an aeronautical engineer and retired from Boeing. He earned two bachelor’s degrees from Washington University and a master’s degree from Florida Institute of Technology.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. John will be cremated, with arrangements entrusted to Valhalla Gardens of Memory in Belleville, Illinois, where he will receive military honors in a private service. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
