Joyce Walker

Joyce was born March 16, 1946 in Greensburg, PA to Thomas Edward and Betty Lou (Zimmerman) Briney.

She married John David Walker on December 28, 1966; he preceded her in death on January 6, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Jeffrey Thomas Briney.

Joyce is survived by her children, Michael Walker of Florida and Kim Walker of Belleville, IL (Barry Grime of Freeburg, IL); beloved grandson, Nathaniel Grime of Belleville, IL; brother, Gary (Wanda) Briney of Oliver Springs, TN; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joyce lived a full and active life, making her home in Florida from 1957 until 2009. During her working years, she dedicated herself to Brevard County Schools, where she served as a cafeteria district manager. She took pride in her work and the many relationships she built along the way.

Outside of her career, Joyce found joy in the simple things. She was an avid reader who could often be found with a good book or working on a puzzle. She loved sewing, participating in card clubs, and staying active through bowling leagues.

Above all else, Joyce cherished her family. They were the center of her world, and she held a special place in her heart for her grandson, Nathaniel. He was truly the light of her life. Her love, warmth, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A visitation for Joyce will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 from 10:30 A.M.- 11:30 A.M. at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home in Belleville, IL.

A funeral will be held following the visitation, at 11:30 A.M., with final interment at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, alongside her husband, John.
