Nancy Ann Viehman, born July 27, 1938 in Belleville, IL, first born child to her parents Robert G. Osborne & Virginia E. Osborne (Frech). She was preceded in death by her parents and younger brother, Robert “Bob” Osborne II, as well as her son-in-law, Mark Klawonn.
Nancy grew up and lived in Belleville her entire life. Never wishing to live anywhere else. Belleville was her home.
She met her future husband at a dance and reminisced about seeing him across the dance floor. He was tall, blond and wearing a wool suit that he bought when he was discharged from the US Navy. It looked out of place because it was summertime and very hot.
Nancy married Ardell Viehman on May 18, 1957, at St. Paul UCC in Belleville. Nancy and Ardell had two daughters, Valarie (husband, David) Mueth (Viehman) of Maryville, IL and Leslie Klawonn (Viehman) of Belleville. She has 4 grandchildren: Sarah (husband, Chris) Samples (Mueth), John (Christin) Mueth, Travis (Stacy) Klawonn and Nicole (Steve) Parker (Klawonn).
Nancy was the proud great-grandmother to Noble & Ben Samples, Jackson, Charles and Olivia Mueth, Addison & Kyler Klawonn and her "little darling", Harley Parker.
Each of her family members had their own unique relationship with her, but she had a special love for her grandchildren and great grands.
Nancy was a lifelong member of the St. Paul UCC in Belleville and volunteered at various times in her life to the ministries of her church. She helped her Aunt Shirley Eckert teach Sunday School when she was in her teens. She was confirmed into membership in 1951. She also helped prepare church newsletters and bulletins later in life. She financially supported her church through the years.
Nancy was hired as a bank teller at the First National Bank on the square in downtown Belleville in the mid-1960's. She continued working for the bank as it eventually became Regions. She retired after 30+ years. She had a reputation for always being precise and balancing consistently. She was the person who was tapped to train many of the future bank managers. She worked in the bank's main lobby and had many customers who only wanted her help with their transactions, because she knew what her customers wanted.
Nancy enjoyed listening to music and watching movies. Her taste varied widely from Hollywood Musicals, to Masterpiece theater, to action movies with Chuck Norris and Gene Hackman. Her tastes in food varied widely as well. She especially enjoyed a "good steak" or cheeseburger, a pizza with lots of toppings, and just about anything chocolate. She recently enjoyed a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup for her lunch one day after entering hospice care.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
