

Arthur DiPietro passed away peacefully on March 30, 2012. He was born on June 17, 1927, in Mirabella Eclano, Italy, the second son of Vincenzo and Incoronata DiPietro who preceded him in death along with his brothers, Domenic and Victor, and nephew Vince. He is survived by his wife, the love of his life for 53 years, Violet (Chickie). He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Diana and Marion DiPietro, Mary Scoccolo, and Eda Mastandrea, brothers-in-law Mondo (Mafalda) Scoccolo, Tony Mola, numerous nieces and nephews, and 12 Godchildren. He served in the Korean War in the infantry. Upon his return from Korea he began farming in Kent, later worked for S.T. Produce. In 1957 he founded DiPietro Trucking Company, a refrigerated interstate transportation firm where he and Chickie worked side by side until their retirement in 2010. Art was an active member of The Italian Club of Seattle, Renton Sons of Italy, lifetime member of Burien Post VFW #134, former member of Washington Trucking Association and numerous other organizations and charities. Art fell in love with Southern California, intent upon someday making it his home. He fulfilled his wish in the 1980's. Art and Chickie spent many happy years between their homes in Palm Desert, CA and Bellevue, WA. Art remained active until the end of his life traveling extensively and enjoying endless rounds of golf at Glendale Golf & Country Club, Bellevue, WA, and Big Horn Golf Club at Palm Desert, CA. Art was a private person – a quiet and gentle soul who never said a harsh word about anyone. He was a devoted and caring husband. He was an extremely generous man who always put everyone else first. He will be missed by all who knew him.
