Carol K. Dunbar, age 91, and long time resident of the Lake Hills community, died peacefully at her assisted living home Tuesday July 18, 2017 in the care of hospice. Carol was married to William “Bill” Dunbar, for 50 years. They moved to Bellevue in 1956 as he started his career with Boeing which lasted for the next 30 years. Carol taught kindergarten before getting married. She was raised in Urbana, Illinois, the daughter of John Otto and Katherine Walters Kraehenbuehl with two brothers John David and Roger, who have all preceded her in death. She is survived by her two children, son Philip and his wife Judy of Medical Lake, Wa and their son Jack Dunbar of Spokane, Wa. Her daughter Lindy and her husband Richard Marcley, who reside in Yakima, Wa and her three sons; Donovan Regan of Seattle, Derrick Marcley, and Charles Dunbar both of Vashon Island, and one great grandson Desmond Regan.
In her earlier years she sang in her church choir, was active in girl scouts with her daughter, and hosted bridge club for her friends. Bill and Carol enjoyed square dancing and especially round dancing. Socializing and volunteering with Overlake Friendship Circle were favorite activities. She bowled for many years in leagues and had several impressive high scores in the 200s, and 500 series. Later we tagged along with her to Crossroads Mall to play the popular Domino game Mexican Train with her friends. She was always busy with some kind of craft project such as knitting, cross stitch, making jewelry, or painting t-shirts which she generously gave to anyone and everyone.
In accordance with Carol's wishes, the family will forego a formal funeral and have a graveside service August 5th, at 2:30 at Sunset Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Bellevue Presbyterian Church.
